Originally from Manila where commercial music and boy bands ruled the soundwaves, it didn’t take Alexis long to fall in love with the UK underground music scene after making the big move to the South West of England at 11 years old.
Her D’n’B and electronic music obsession began after seeing Clipz at a local rave when she was 17. The next thing, Alexis was wearing down her Global Gathering tape packs and rinsing Andy C Nightlife, Friction’s Another Level, Shy FX, Q Project and Calibre.
Armed with a set of 1200s and a healthy vinyl collection, Alexis taught herself how to mix. Her early music influences cover all genres of music; from 90’s RnB like Destiny’s Child and Aaliyah to Indie bands such as Deftones and Rage Against the Machine, as well as electronica and ambient sounds including Four Tet and Aphex Twin, not forgetting movie soundtrack curators Thomas Newman Hans Zimmer and Atticus Ross.
Safe to say, her music inspiration is eclectic. She proudly admits she is also a sucker for world music; this nostalgia stems from her early life in Manila, where she was surrounded by colourful parades with indigenous costumes and weapons, tribal dances and addictive drumbeats. Alexis marks these moments as the beginning to her love for rave culture.
Now a Bristol resident, she’s turning her hand to making music and concentrating on putting a decade of self-taught talent to audiences at UK festivals and club nights. Alexis has already played the popular My Nu Leng & M8s nights and Cubana events, where her diverse knowledge in house, bass, tribal and techno were fully showcased.
